 Almost perfect... January 5, 2009

This our second dual chamber two cup coffeemaker. I love what my husband calls FOOFOO coffee and he loves freshly ground medium bold which tastes so bad to me. This is a very nice thing for a couple who only drinks a couple cups each a day and likes different kinds. The first one we had was from Gevalia, and I loved it. The short lifespan of the Gevalia was the reason I bought this one from B&D. Even though it only lasted a year, I wish I have sucked it up and paid the extra $10 for another one from Gevalia. I am not sure the B&D will even last a year.
The knob on top that switches between single cup and two cup is very stiff and doesn't seem to completely go all the way to either choice. The second cup [on the right] has to always be in place, even when you make one cup, because it seems to leak every time. We brew two cups a lot, so this isn't that big a deal, but not a sign of quality.
The mugs are nice and the lids fit, which is an issue with other cups we have purchased. The automatic shut off is a nice feature, but my other had that, too. The permanent filter is great...and it does make good coffee. I think maybe I expect a more quality product from B&D's brand.

I got this coffee maker for the obvious reason I guess which is to be able to make something fast and carry it out the door. So far it has worked well for me. It is a sturdy made unit, very easy to use, and the cups and filters are dish washer friendly. My only complaint is that the travel mug could be a little wider at the bottom so that it fits more snuggly in my car cup holder. As is, it's a little wobbly.

My partner and I love this product! He drinks strong, dark coffee in the morning, and I drink a nice, grassy yerba mate- and we both take them to work. This machine makes both his coffee and my tea at the same time, in one unit! And it makes it directly into mugs. I'm kind of disappointed at the reviews I've seen so far: noisy, slow, leaky mugs, bad insulation, etc, etc. I've found it to be fast and no louder than any other coffeemaker I've had. And the mugs don't get water in them for me- I think it's because I don't use a dishwasher. All you gotta do is rinse out the cups each morning by hand. It's not a big deal. And I actually expected the insulation to kind of suck, since there's an open hole on the lid, but I've found it to insulate just as well as our other travel mugs. Maybe a bit better.
The only negative is very small: the right cup gets about an inch more liquid than the left cup. Not a huge problem. Especially if one person takes cream.
All in all, I am in love with this coffeemaker, and I am really depressed that they stopped making them. I haven't found another one that lets us have separate drinks made in the same convenient unit. Five stars!

Well, i will say that the concept of brewing a travel mug or two at a time is phenomenal. However, these "travel mugs" are not the type with screw on lids, they actually are warped and will leak on your lap, not a great experience. I now use it only for brewing and then transfer the coffee into a travel mug that I purchased from Starbucks.

I received this item for Christmas. One brew basket does not open so that coffee can be put into it; neither brew backet can be rovoved for cleaning. I plan to return it immedaitely. Black and Decker should be ashamed of producing such a shoddy appliance.
