This product will do the trick and is a lot easier to clean than the bristle brush. I thought the strands would be longer, though.

I would give this a 5 star rating, since its clean up is a breeze, but I had to deduct one star. The bristles flex a bit much to my liking, as I mostly use a basting brush on baby back ribs. Other people may want something a bit more flexible for their applications. I rather enjoy not having to spend a lot of time picking bits of meat out of a baster, and this one is the only baster that I know of that comes apart the way it does. When I say apart, I mean in like three ways! The bottom slides off, exposing the bristles to slide completely off the handle. Then the bristles themselves unfold from thirds to lay itself out for a thorough washing. Maybe that is what causes it to be so flexible though.

This is everything I want for a pastry brush. First of all, the bristles are just right, not too soft or too hard. Other brushes with silicon bristles are too soft to be practical.
Another thing I like is that it is easy to clean. It is easier to clean than any of my other brushes. All you need is a little soap and water.
Finally, it is pretty to look at. So many cook's tools are ugly and it's nice to have something that looks good.

I'd come to the conclusion that I would simply buy cheap pastry and/or basting brushes and toss them as soon as they got disgustingly greasy, gritty, or generally filthy -- there seemed no way to keep them really clean. Enter this absolutely wonderful item, and I know these problems are behind me. Ingeniously designed to come apart so the individual components can be thoroughly cleaned, this is really the PERFECT brush. I'll be buying more for my friends.
