Product Description Oval Shape with Glass Cover / Auto-Protect safety system / Rinse-Clean lifetime stick resistant coating / 3 Position Heat Control / 110-120V AC
Amazon.com Review When set on low for all-day simmering, this cooker from the makers of the original Crock Pot slowly tenderizes meat, turning even budget cuts into juicy meals. A modest 3-1/2-quart size, the oval-shaped crock holds enough chicken, beef, stew or soup for two to three people. The temperature knob has three settings: off, low, and high. The crock, which lifts from the base for cleaning, features a rinse-clean, lifetime stick-resistant coating. As long as extreme changes in temperature are avoided, such as placing in cold water when hot, the crock should give years of service. Both the crock and lid are dishwasher-safe. A one-year warranty covers this slow cooker from defects. --Ann Bieri

Lid leaks, again! January 8, 2009 R. Haeckler (West Chester, PA) This is the second Rival crock pot I've gotten and both had the same problem - there is a 1/8 inch gap between the lid and the ceramic base. This lets out a lot of steam during the slow-cook period, so the food can dry out and it is less efficient of our energy. It seems it wouldn't be much more effort for them to make a lid that actually fit the base without that gap!
lid does not fit properly December 18, 2008 J. Sinclair (Framingham, MA United States) I am just trying this crockpot for the first time. I had an older model which I loved. Which I am glad I did not throw out. This one is made in a much cheaper manner, particularly the lid. The lid does not line up properly so that there is a gap where air gets in and out. The whole purpose of a crockpot is that it slows cooks all day in an airtight container. I dont see how this one is going to work as well as my old one did. I am disappointed with the craftmanship. It should not be a difficult thing to make the crockpot so the lid and the base match up. Rival should do a better job. Not worth what I paid for at all.
How did we live without this?! December 2, 2008 Kelly A. Donovan (Brooklyn, NY) We are a two-person household, one of whom (not me) is an EXTREMELY picky eater. I have MS, and after I was diagnosed with several food-related issues, I decided to prepare our meals, but they had to be easy and not require much physical energy: enter the Rival Slow Cooker. First, the size is perfect for two to three for main course; four to eight for appetizers (such as Greek baked eggplant). We usually have enough leftover for my lunch the next day. Second, cleaning both the ceramic insert and the heating element is very easy, just do not let anything dry/crust on and you will never need anything other than a soapy sponge for the insert and a damp paper towel for the heating element. Third, the heat levels (low/high) and distribution seem accurate. All my recipes have taken the recommended times; I've made everything from pot roast, oatmeal, BBQ ribs to stews, chicken, soups, baked eggplant & tapioca. There is no shortage of recipes for slow cookers, either online or in books. My Rival slow cooker has been used four times a week at a minimum since we received it in October. It does take a little extra effort on both our parts to create meals, but we have never spent more than 15-20 minutes prepping the food. My picky eater has loved EVERY meal done in our Rival slow cooker & I now control the ingredients & quality of our food. I could not be more pleased with this product.
Good Slow Cooker Choice November 25, 2008 Patsy Rose 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We're pleased with the Rival 3 1/2 Quart slow cooker. It has only two settings, low & high, but that suits us --simplicity --it works fine. We like the clean simple lines and the clear, see-through lid. The oval shape is nice, and of course you can take out the inside stoneware pot for cleaning. The price is not bad. All in all, an excellent choice for us!
rival slow cooker September 26, 2008 Donna (Bolton, MA United States) Great addition to the kitchen , I have a larger one as well. Cleans up easily. Miss the 4/6hr timer that the larger model has, but still great product.
