Use this simple microwave cooker to take the fuss out of poaching eggs. Place 1/2 teaspoon of water in each 3-inch cup. Add a cracked egg to each cup and pierce yolks lightly. Snap lid closed and microwave to taste. (Cooking times vary depending on the microwave's power.) Let stand a minute or two to finish cooking. Open lid and serve gold-and-white poached eggs on toasted English muffins, over hash, or with potato pancakes. The 7-1/2-inch poacher, made of hard plastic, should be hand washed. --Fred Brack

I just bought this egg poacher from Target for $2.99 and used it this morning. I read the other reviews and tried poaching one egg without water and for 32 seconds on high power. The egg white was still undercooked on the bottom. I flipped over the egg and cooked it for 10 more seconds. It ended up cooking well. I like my eggs with the yolk cooked. So next time I will try cooking it for a little longer. The poacher was easy to clean up with soap and water. The only complaint I have is that the hinges make it hard to open easily. But for $2.99, I can live with that!

The nice things about this egg poacher is that it is FAST. Poached eggs in about a minute!
It's messy though because it does not sit stable on only three points of contact and is easy to tip over, especially when closing the lid. With a little practice you can avoid making a mess though.

Inexpensive, fast, easy. What more could you ask for? I like my eggs poaches so there's no runny yolk. I cook one at a time. I have cooked my egg for 40 seconds and it's perfect. A good value!

I have owned this poacher for about five years, and we poach eggs several times a week. So this little item has had quite a workout in our home, probably poaching hundreds of eggs, until one of the hinges broke off.
Here are some tricks to getting perfectly poached eggs in this gadget:
1) nonstick spray both cups
2) add 2 teaspoons water apiece (to get that "poached" texture)
3) cook in a microwave oven that has a turntable; and
4) experiment with the "right" time to poach in your own oven, since wattages vary a great deal. (I use 1 minute on 50%, but your oven is different)
I'm replacing my purchase today; also buying a 4-egg poacher because we use it so often.

For the egg not to explode, only use a few drops of water and poke the yoke before cooking.
I leave the lid open a bit and have not had a problem. 2 eggs, 60 seconds, leave in for a bit. Sometimes they are a little soft, but when I make my meal I usually melt the cheese and meat with the eggs so I put them in for a bit more.
