Pyrex was the first to create a line of glass bakeware so cooks could actually see how their food was cooking. At the time, the idea was revolutionary; now--like all great innovations--we take it for granted. In fact, these days this large baking dish from Pyrex (a company that's been making quality glass products for the better part of a century) costs about as much as dessert and coffee for two at a swanky cafe. Not a bad deal, considering it transitions flawlessly from oven to microwave to freezer to dishwasher, and, if you're moderately careful, it will last you a lifetime. This dish's 4-quart size is perfect for jumbo cakes or a casserole for a crowd. --Meg Heffernan

Really nice very large glass baking dish. I used this over the Holiday season and really am happy with it. It was large enough for my turkey. I had been looking for this size and found it here at Amazon.

This dish is great. Very durable and big. Great for making large dishes such as baked macaroni and cheese, baked ziti etc. Enough to feed a large family with plenty of left overs. Great deal, worth every penny!

I am a Pyrex fan. I always get good useage from mine. I have some dishes which are more than 20 years old. I use my 9x13 for everything from brownies to pasta dishes. However, $48 for this dish is way overpriced. I would expect $15 or so in a department store.

My new (6 month old) pyrex broke violently shortly after it was taken out of the oven and set on the oven to cool. None of the stove top burners were on or had been on for hours, and ut was NOT on a burner which vents heat from the oven. All the dish contained was bread pudding, and it certainly hadn't been roasting under the broiler. The glass shards were numerous, large, sharp, very hot, and flew everywhere, with an enormously loud breaking sound, so whether or not you want to call that an explosion, I'm very glad I wasn't in the room. I've been cooking with pyrex my whole life and never had a problem with it before, so I'm loth to give it a bad review, but it was a pretty scary experience.
