Product Description KitchenAid Five-Ply 18/10 Stainless Steel Clad Cookware combines the highest quality materials and workmanship for the best stainless in cookware Stainless Steel Cooking Surface - Non-reactive cooking surface will not discolor or affect flavors of food Cast Stainless-steel handles with rivets that permanently attach handle to pan for maximum durability
Amazon.com Review This has to be one of the flashiest cookware sets on the market. The highly polished stainless steel is mirrorlike. The 9-piece set includes a 2-quart saucepan with cover, 3-quart saucepan with cover, 8-quart covered stockpot, 10-inch skillet, and 5-quart covered sauté pan with extra "helper" handle. Each piece is made from a five-ply construction, which fuses an aluminum core between layers of stainless steel. The result is wonderful heat transference across the bottom and up the sides. Bottoms are permanently stamped with size and capacity. Special deep-draw lids ensure a tighter seal and minimize rattling. Each handle is individually cast of stainless steel, designed to accommodate large hands, and secured with polished stainless-steel rivets. They're also comfortably curved, stay cool to the touch on the stovetop, and are oven-safe up to 500 degrees F. Hand washing is recommended, with a nonabrasive sponge--you won't want to mar the gleaming finish of these pieces. --Matthew Evans What's in the Box 2-quart saucepan with lid, 3-quart saucepan with lid, 8-quart stockpot with lid, 5-quart sauté pan with lid, 10-inch skillet

5-Ply, 5 stars ***** January 1, 2009 T. Williams (Paris, Tx, USA) I purchased this set about a year ago, and it is still cooking great, and still looks brand new, I love to cook so the pots and pans in this set get used quite a bit, I have not purchased a product yet from KitchenAid that has not lived up to the quality associated with this household name. I definetely reccomend this set to anyone who is considering purchasing it, it is well worth the few extra dollars to buy things of good quality because you will never have to replace them.
Good cookware for the price but..... December 27, 2008 Sleepless_Cybrarian 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this cookware about 4.5 years ago and I too, bought it based on the reviews on Amazon. In fact, I returned All-Clad open stock pieces to purchase the KitchenAid (KA) five-ply. If I had to do it over again, I would spend the extra money and purchase the All-Clad, even if it meant starting out with less pieces. My opinion is based on the performance of the KA handles. If you are cooking for an extended period of time the handles get very, very hot and because I have a problem with my right wrist, I find the extra heft of these pans, to be a hinderance. The only way I can pour is to use two silicone pot holders; one on the handle and another on the bottom of the pan. I do not find this cookware difficult to clean, if you soak it over night, but it scratches more easily than the two All-Clad pieces I own, and must be left on the stove to cool down thoroughly before putting it in the sink. I learned this the hard way; I have a stainless steel sink with a rack on the bottom (grey plastic, to look like stainless) and the KA empty pan melted the plastic. That said, I didn't test the All-Clad to see if the same thing would happen! On the positive side, these pots will last a lifetime, and are far more reasonable now, then when I acquired them.
Very good product for its price October 24, 2008 Umamaheswari Ramanathan (Bay Area, CA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have been using this set for past few days (ordered when price went down to $209). Just to mention I'm using this cookware on smooth ceramic top electric stove. - 2QT Saucepan is outperforming my expectations. I have a farberware millenium bottom encapsulated set, and there's a difference. I have been using saucepan to boil milk and make lentil curries etc, no sticking and cleans up like a breeze. - 10" skillet - heats up faster, cooks evenly. Only think I didn't like about this one is the color goes brown (as if some oxidation has occured) in the bottom surface if you delay adding your ingredients. Its anyway not a magic, its stainless steel afterall. Some barkeepers friend and elbow grease did the trick of cleaning it up after cooking (thats why I took 1 star from the rating). Yet to use other pieces in the set, though these 2 will be the ones of regular usage. Some comment about the set itself, - All pieces except the 5QT saute' pan are good. The 5QT could have been replaced by 3 1/2 or a 4QT saute' pan. The base of this 5QT is too big to fit in my stovetop burner (max diameter of the burner is 9-inch whereas the pan is over 12-inch). I wish I could exchange this one for a stir fry pan or a smaller size casserole. Update after using the set for few weeks now: - The lids are not at all tight, in some they don't fit properly. Not sure if they are giving wrong lids with the set.
Nice October 24, 2008 T. King Mine just arrived, paid $209 with free shipping. Can't beat the price, quality is so much better than anything else you can get within the sub-$500 range. After working on a budget and looking at my choices, I was really happy that this deal came around. I don't know if it's better quality than All-Clad, but I couldn't find an All-Clad set for this price anywhere. Quality cookware typically has a little bit of a heft to it, but if you are weak-wristed and cook a lot, I'd look elsewhere for your set as they do take a little effort to handle. I predict that this set will last a long time. The build quality is excellent.
The perfect cookware set May 20, 2008 ChrisChris (Monterey,CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Buying a cookware set from the internet is a tough decision! I personally want to touch the pots, feel them, weight them.Unfortunatelly at the local stores i could only find some way too expensive sets (All Clad) and some cheap but...So after a lot of search i decided to trust the customer reviews for this set (plus the free shipping from Amazon.com). I am so happy i did it. The pots have the right weight - not too light, not too heavy - and the right size for someone who cooks every single day for a family of 4!! I'm not gonna argue about stainless-steel because anyone who cooks a lot knows better. As for the shine and stains i'd rather cook than worry about such things!!! I highly recommend this great 9-piece set by KitchenAid!!
